Overview of Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade

Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade is one of the most prestigious bikes of Honda worldwide. Since its evolution (2004), the bike has gone under few changes. This is Honda’s most powerful bike in their CBR series and it is also known as Fireblade. Let’s try to know the reasons behind its popularity.

Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Exterior

Every part of this machine seems to be roaring for power and speed. Honda CBR1000RR looks glorious from every angle. Honda has done almost everything, what it takes to make an appealing sports bike. Front fairing is the most eye-catching thing in this bike which also houses two sleek headlights. The V-shaped tinted visor enhances the charm of this bike. The side cowl and fuel tank features new cool graphics which makes it look aerodynamic. Clear lens indicators are integrated in its rear view mirrors which are mounted on its front fairing. You will also notice the new pattern of 3-spoke aluminium wheels and disc brakes on its both wheels. For optimum mass centralization, there is an under cowl which seems to integrate in its extended side cowl. Honda has worked hard to limit its bulk to vision only. They have tried to take away as much mass as possible by redesigning every single part of this bike. The new light weight silencer is also an outcome of this process. The bike looks tall when seen from the back and features new LED tail light. New oval shape rear side indicators and light reflector are integrated in its compact fender.

Instrument Console of Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade

Honda CBR1000RR features a new LCD instrument panel. It’s completely digitized and places many LED indicators like manual lap timer, gear shift indicators and other warning lights on it. It has a four way adjustable digital tachometer. Other than this, it has digital speedometer, trip meter, odometer and fuel gauge. This LCD uses blue colour for illumination at night.

Engine and Gearbox

The altered 999cc, 4-stroke engine of Honda now delivers an utmost power out of 175 bhp at 12000rpm. This inline four cylinder engine generates a maximum torque output of 112 Nm accessible at 8500rpm. This liquid cooled, 16valve DOHC engine is mated with a six-speed gearbox with one gear down and five gears up-shift pattern.

Acceleration and Performance

As per Honda, this bike does 0-100km/hr with in three seconds and that makes it the fastest bike in CBR series. Honda has mated this extremely refined engine with perfect gear ratios. It has an incredible throttle response which needs experience for its controlled and safe usage. The bike is designed for power and speed and it’s quite clear from its very first move. Crossing the speed mark of 150km/hr is like a cake walk for this bike. When you drive it then you will get to know why it’s been named Fireblade. Its performance has the family racing traits which makes it stupendous. Without much effort, it can cross the speed of 200km/hr and be prepared to go beyond that. There is no strain in this engine even at 11000rpm and that shows the low level of vibrations and harshness. The positive response from this engine prompts you to reach its limit. Most of the torque is used at early rpms and that helps it to get the momentum easily after every gear transition. It’s the heavy power production of this engine which makes the difference to its performance in comparison to other sports bike.

Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Mileage

Fuel efficiency of Honda CBR1000RR varies from 7-12km/ltr and these figures increases on highways.

Comfort while Driving Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade

The split seat of CBR1000RR is very comfortable and helps you to settle on this bike easily. Once you are on this broad bike with rear set foot pegs then you will have to reach to its handle bar which is placed a bit low to give you an aerodynamic position. Your knees will fold automatically and stick to its fatty tank to give you a firm grip of this bike. The sporty riding posture encourages you to rev it hard. Its rear view mirrors give you a clear view at all speeds.

Storage Space and Safety Features

These bikes hardly have any storage space. Fireblade features combined ABS and powerful twin headlights for safety.

Suspension and Braking System

Honda CBR1000RR sports beefy 43mm inverted front forks which are fully adjustable and give you strong hold of this bike at high speeds. Rear suspension of this bike is one of its kinds. It was specially designed for Honda’s MotoGP racing campaign. It’s a unit Pro-link rear suspension which adjusts itself according to different conditions. The braking system comes along with C-ABS to keep it under control after sudden braking. At front, it has radially mounted four callipers and six floating rotors which work effectively and enhance the braking power. The bike features Dual disc brakes of 320mm at its front while at the back it has a drum brake of 220mm.

Ride and Handling

The bike handles brilliantly at high speeds but to improve its stability at slow speeds, Honda has used a lightweight aluminium Mono backbone frame which reduces the weight and increases the stability. Its heavyweight has always been a major concern at slow speeds and this time Honda has resolved this problem successfully. Its electric steering gives a positive response at high speeds and steers perfectly. Its low ground clearance (130mm) improves its aerodynamics while its wheelbase of 1407mm holds it well around corners and at high speeds. Its massive rear tyre (190/50) sticks firmly to road and improves its cornering abilities.

Verdict

Honda CBR1000R in white colour is priced at INR 13.60 lakhs (approx., may vary) while you can save 20K by opting for its regular shades. It will be stupidity if we talk about the worthiness of this bike. Such bikes are not common in India and if you are one of those lucky ones who can afford it then believe us; you will be a renowned person in your community.
