The Range Rover Evoque is a compact SUV from Land Rover which went into production in July 2011. Land Rover along with British origin Jaguar in India is a subsidiary of Tata Motors as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). Land Rover floats two Range Rovers, a Freelander and a Discovery model in Indian market. Land Rover builds the Evoque in three- and five-door forms, as well as the Freelander 2, at the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Halewood plant in the U.K.
The all new Range Rover Evoque concept was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show as the Land Rover LRX in January 2008. Evoque will be available in three-door and five-door body styles. This is basically a mini-sport utility vehicle compared to the tall and rugged SUVs by Land Rover. This is perhaps the smallest and lightest ever Range Rover and will meet head on with the BMW X1 and Audi Q3 (not yet in India). Primarily meant to appeal to the younger, more urbane audience, Land Rover Evoque is a truly dynamic and sporty SUV. The 5 door version will be available in Pure, Prestige and Dynamic models that give myriad choices and technology.
Evoque is surely a head turner and a performer despite its small size. In the entire history of Range Rover brand since 1970, there have hardly been any models launched by Land Rover that managed to create the kind of fervor that Evoque has procured from car lovers and auto enthusiast on a global platform.
The glittering lamps as well as the rear spoiler on Evoque and the rally-like wheel arches-all make it attractive and increases the desirability for this car. Not just the exteriors but the interiors as well are captivating in this case. The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque draws many similarities with its seniors and bid daddies. The switches and dial looks amazingly mesmerizing. The seats inside have chic upholstery and are supportive. The steering can be adjusted for a perfect driving position. It also inherits one touch interior lighting and split screen centre console display from its seniors. A significant option for Land Rover’s new Range Rover Evoque compact SUV is a large, fixed panoramic glass sunroof which adds upto cost of production. The Evoque can comfortably house two six feet height persons at the rear in the five-door car that has extra 1.2 inches headroom compared to the Evoque coupe version. The third row is quite cramped and isn’t fit for seating.
The 5 door Land Rover Range Rover Evoque will be powered by a 2179 cc diesel engine that has a maximum power of 190 bhp and a maximum torque of 420 Nm. This diesel engine will be packed in three models of Evoque-Pure, Prestige and Dynamic. Powerful 1999 cc 240 bhp turbo petrol will also be available with Dynamic trim of Evoque. The engine will be coupled with a six-speed automatic gearbox with 4 wheel drive system. The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque derives its chassis from Land Rover Freelander. Evoque will be a safe SUV with eight airbags protecting the occupants. There will be electric parking brake along with Roll Stability Control and Dynamic Stability Control. Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution will be standard on the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. As part of the comfort features there will be a dual zone automatic climate control on the Evoque.
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Mileage
Editor's take : The diesel engine of the Evoque is frugal despite having good performance.
With blend of dynamic handling and refined engineering, theRange Rover Evoque ’s compact footprint and advanced technology deliver exciting performance together with the lowest fuel consumption of any Range Rover to date. Fuel economy has been stated as being 6.5 kmpl. The petrol engine, however, would be more frugal. The 2.0 L engine is fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission and has been engineered to improve fuel economy of 8.7 kmpl.

Editor's take : The Evoque gets the smallest engine from the JLR stable, which is the new 2.0-litre petrol. But the power rating of these engines is good.
The 5 door Land Rover Range Rover Evoque power is doled out by a 2179 cc diesel engine that has a maximum power of 190 bhp @ 3500 rpm and a maximum torque of 420 Nm @ 1750 rpm. This engine is mated to a fantastic 6 six speed automatic transmission.
In contrast, the 1999 cc turbocharged petrol engine is more powerful as it churns out 240 bhp @ 5500 rpm and generates maximum torque of 340 Nm @ 1750 rpm. Even this mighty and muscular engine is mated to 6 speed automatic gearbox.
